4Friends New Zealand – Powerboat Magazine
On a recent trip to New Zealand and Australia, which I will write more about in some upcoming Best4Boats Enewsletters, I encountered many fellow boaters, and my wife and I had a wonderful time both on and off the water.
The trip also allowed me to become reacquainted with the New Zealand based publication Powerboat Magazine that is run by Doug and Carla Dukeson. I had met one of their business partners Barry Thompsen who unfortunately passed away suddenly in 2023 at several events in Australia many years ago. Barry was a great guy and Powerboat a well-known publication in the region, so I was happy to see Doug and Carla continuing on. Powerboat provides a lot of great information including reviews on boats from trailer boats on up to midsized and larger cruisers. They also offer articles on equipment, electronics and other boating gear. Perfect bound with a heavy cover stock their latest bi-monthly issue is 163 pages and is packed with content and good photography. Powerboat Magazine reminds me of some of the U.S. magazines in their heyday. If you are a powerboater in the region it’s a must, but there is enough great content in the magazine for enthusiasts outside of New Zealand to enjoy this publication too. I look forward to possibly collaborating with the Dukesons in the future and certainly will keep an eye on what they are doing with Powerboat Magazine as it is impressive.
