Custom Colored tenders by Tide Craft
The docks were packed with nice boats as I strolled through the Newport Beach International Boat Show (NBIBS) this spring. I had a few appointments and was looking for some boats I knew were there that I wanted to see, but otherwise I was just checking out the show. To command my full attention, a boat had to really stand out. Then I saw the Tide Craft Catalina 13. This RIB with a steering console had a bright white hull with brilliant pink accents and trim. Noticeable? Hell Ya! You couldn’t miss this boat which really looked exceptional. The friendly saleswoman, also dressed in matching bright pink, explained that their boats are fully customizable. The pink and white color scheme is one of several options available to make your boat one-of-a-kind.
The Custom Pink & White Catalina 13 that turned my head at the show had the small arch with its navigation light, transom, console, and forward storage compartment all painted a brilliant pink color. The white PVC tubes also featured pink handles and accents. Hypalon is also available. This 12’ 10” long RIB has an aluminum hull with 19” diameter tubes for stability and performance. According to the manufacturer, during factory testing the boat powered by a 60HP Tohatsu outboard exhibited lively performance and was able to exceed 35 mph. Other engine options are also available from Suzuki or Mercury.

Each boat comes fully equipped, for example the pink and white boat that caught my attention is decked out with a Rockford Fosgate Bluetooth stereo with waterproof speakers, a Lowrance Eagle 5 fishfinder/chartplotter, underwater lights, diamond-stitched two-tone interior, and transom steps for swim boarding, all standard.
