New Pursuit S 328 Sport Center Console delivers quality and versatility

Center Consoles are all the rage particularly in Florida where these boats are ideal for the warm temperatures and abundant fishing opportunities. The hard part in today’s market is that there are so many center console brands to choose from. What differentiates the new Pursuit S 328 Sport Center Console from other boats in this class?
To start with, the boats are known for their quality. Pursuit was formerly a sister company to Tiara and the quality both brands are known for has continued since Pursuit was purchased by Malibu Boats in 2018. Secondly, Pursuit Boats are recognized for their versatility. As the name implies, these boats are designed to pursue and catch fish, but they aren’t simply blood and guts boats like some other fishing brands. In addition to fishing capabilities Pursuit focuses on refinements and comforts that make their boats well suited for day cruising, entertaining, and light overnighting.
The S 328 Sport at 34′ 6″ length overall with a 10′ 10″ beam offers plenty of room to move about when fishing. Comfortable coaming pads line the cockpit and open bow. There are nine stainless steel rod holders, plus rocket launchers and optional top mounted outriggers. A lighted 24-gallon recirculating livewell with a window adorns a corner of the transom. There is plenty of rod storage along the gunwales, under the hardtop, and in the cabin. Drawers are great for tackle storage and there is a nearby sink, washdown and dual fish boxes with discharge pumps below. Twin Yamaha® 300 or 350 engines provide the speed and reliability needed to get to prime fishing spots. Factory test data with the larger 350 HP engines showed a top speed of over 50 mph and a 348-mile range at a 27-mph cruise speed.
The boat’s speed and range can make for great fishing but the Pursuit S 328 is also well-equipped for cruising. Seats fold out to create multiple gathering areas with tables for both the cockpit and the forward lounge. There is an electric BBQ, convenient drink fridge, a sink, and a great sound system to dance the night away. Most center consoles in this size range have a modest head compartment below the helm. The Pursuit S 328 uses this space to showcase their versatility. While I wouldn’t call the cabin large, it is well laid out, functional and nicely finished with a sliding acrylic door and wood panels. There is a head, ceramic sink, mirror, opening portholes, storage, and a unique folding lounge. The cushioned lounge can be folded away and the cabin used for storage, or it can be set up as a seat for easy clothes-changing or spread flat to create a reasonable sized bed ideal for napping or cozy overnights.
Whether fishing, cruising, or diving, the new Pursuit S 328 Sport has a lot to offer. If you are looking for a high-quality center console you may not want to let this one get away.
