New Tiara 56 LS: 50-Knot Flagship

Tiara 56 LS

I am partial to Tiara’s for many reasons, in part because I used to own a Tiara. It was a great boat that our family enjoyed cruising on when our boys were young. I have also been aboard and tested numerous Tiaras over the years. They are one of the finest American boatbuilders around and are known not only for their boat’s drivability and performance but for the meticulous care Tiara takes when building the boats.

Tiara 56LS Virtual Tour

The new Tiara 56 LS powered by quad Mercury® 600 HP V12 Verado® outboards is fast. Somewhere in the vicinity of 50 knots fast. I did not have a chance to drive the boat but plan to schedule a test ride soon. In Miami the boat was so new that even Tiara had not released factory performance numbers. I know these engines though, as I have run them on other boats, and they are powerful yet uncannily quiet, so I expect great things.

The LS designation is for Luxury Sport and the 56 is the largest to date in this series. The big engines and sleek design provide the “Sport.” Multiple seating areas both inside and out, two cabins, and two heads all with Tiara’s impressive finish provide the “Luxury.” A versatile open aft cockpit has moveable seats and fold-down gunnel platforms that take you to the water’s edge. A partially covered side deck connects to an open bow lounge with plenty of seating including fold-up ottomans and convenient tables. This forward seating area can serve as both a casual gathering space when on anchor or at the dock, or a thrill seekers haven when the throttles are pressed to eye watering top speeds.

For those less inclined to let their hair fly there is plenty of seating under the hardtop behind the windshield on bolstered bench seats along the glass bridge helm. Additional seating and a drop-down flat screen TV are all inside the climate-controlled salon or slide the side and aft doors open when the weather permits. The 56’2″length overall and 16′ beam provide a lot of room to play and to cruise in comfort. The power and performance should make the Tiara 56 LS equally fun for socializing and day cruising. I hope to get onboard for further testing and evaluation soon but from what I have seen so far, this new boat is going to be a lot of fun.
