Rebirth of an iconic brand, the new Intrepid 35 Panacea

Intrepid means fearless and the brand was founded on delivering fast and gutsy center consoles. In keeping with that reputation, new models are being released like the all-new Intrepid Panacea 35 to deliver that fearless character along with modern design, technology, and construction. MarineMax (NYSE: HZO) purchased the Largo Florida based company a few years ago and has been focusing on analyzing and modernizing the company since the acquisition. The fruits of that organizational labor are now coming to bear with the 35 Panacea featured in Miami along with her sister vessel the 35 Valor which will be further showcased at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March 2026.
Our editor Norris Comer and I caught up with Intrepid president Terry McNew, a very experienced production boat builder and administrator, along with Josh Shave, Intrepid’s VP of Marketing at the Miami Boat Show debut of the Intrepid 35 Panacea. They explained how the line was being extensively revamped with all new tooling and precision construction processes meant to improve both performance and the user experience. The confidence they exuded for the brand was contagious and made me hungry to see more and to get on board and drive one of these new boats soon.
The Intrepid 35 Panacea is a compact mid-sized center walkaround that will tick a lot of boxes for buyers in this category. The double stepped hull is vacuum infused (Intrepid is known for pioneering this technique) and is built using all new tooling. Powered by twin Mercury 425 V10 Verado outboards, they expect speeds over 60 mph. Speed and power are not the only things the boat is about, with 380 gallons of fuel the Intrepid 35 Panacea should have an extensive cruising range of around 350 miles. Folding seats, pull out coolers, a bait tank (optional), BBQ, and a sleeping cabin with a head, add versatility to this new Intrepid. Panacea means cure-all and whether fishing, day cruising, or overnighting, the new Intrepid 35 Panacea could be the remedy many boaters are seeking.
