Sea Turtle Mystery Solved

Sea Turtles

A study by Kate Mansfield tagged 114 turtles in the Gulf of Mexico, revealing that they actively swim rather than drift with ocean currents. Comparing their movements to drifting buoys showed that turtles stayed in the open ocean while buoys washed ashore. Published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B, this research reshapes our understanding of their early life stages. Read the full article.
