Sixty Sunreef Power Eco Double Happiness

The 60 Sunreef Power Eco Double Happiness will debut in the United States at Palm Beach. The power catamaran is of note in part due to its solar powered twin 120kW electric engine propulsion system. That’s right, a 60’ all-electric, solar luxury yacht. No diesel required, just sunshine. While this Eco version is debuting, the Classic version of this build features twin conventional fossil fuel powered engines.
One cool feature at a glance is that the solar power cells appear sleekly integrated into the composite construction of the vessel versus the mounted rectangular panels we’re accustomed to. If the yacht can perform competitively with its fossil fuel sisterships, the benefits of all-electric propulsion include ultra-quiet operation and zero exhaust fumes.
Beyond the eco angle, the power catamaran model has all kinds of features including an aft garage and massive 35’ beam. With space for 12 guests, this yacht has charter potential all over it. The 60 is also the Poland-based company’s smallest of their Sunreef Power line, an entry into the midsize market that may bear fruit.
Checking out the 60 Sunreef Power Eco Double Happiness (try saying that five times fast) will be interesting. Doing an extensive sea trial to see the solar power in action someday would be amazing.
